Course Description:
Level: 5 FETAC Award
Credit Value: 1 credit
Purpose: This module has been developed to provide the learner with both an introduction to manual bookkeeping terms and principles, and the knowledge and skills necessary to operate computerised accounts systems using an integrated accounts package
Entry Level: National Vocational Certificate level 4, leaving certificate of equivalent qualifications and or relevant life and work experience
General Aims:
Learners who successfully complete this module will:
Acquire an understanding of basic bookkeeping concepts and terminology Acquire the knowledge and skills to record transactions in a manual accounts system and draw up a trial balance Understand the main components of a computer system, and acquire the skills to carry out various housekeeping tasks Appreciate the advantages of computerised accounts, and be aware of the various accounts packages available Appreciate the importance of data accuracy and confidentiality in financial transactions
